(Scarborough, Maine)- The top-seeded University of Maine at Fort Kent women's soccer team began their quest to defend their Sunrise Conference soccer championship by blanking No. 4 University of Maine at Machias 6-0 Friday in Scarborough, Maine.  The Bengals stayed undefeated 16-0 and will play No. 3 SUNY Canton on Saturday at 1 p.m.  The Roos upset No. 2 University of Maine at Presque Isle 3-0 in the other first-round game.

Whitney Sinclair showed why she was named the Offensive Player of the Year in the conference as the sophomore fired in four goals to lead the Bengals.

Sinclair scored two goals in the first half as Fort Kent held a slim 2-0 lead.  The high powered Bengals offense, who came in averaging five goals a game, proved to be too much in the second half as they knocked in four more goals to advance to the title game.  Sinclair scored twice more and Theresa Biggs and Marie-Michele Lachance each scored once.  Andrea Baril, Angela Norwworthy, and Jamie Pelletier each contributed an assist for Fort Kent and Mindy Morneault had three saves to notch the shutout.

Alicia Schmidt had 18 saves for the Clippers who end their season at 7-11.
