(Scarborough, Maine)- Jermaine West scored one goal and set up another leading top-seeded University of Maine at Fort Kent to their fourth straight Sunrise Conference men's soccer championship beating No. 2 University of Maine at Machias 2-0 in Scarborough, Maine on Saturday.
The Bengals, undefeated at 17-0-1 and ranked fifth in the latest NAIA national poll, advance to the national tournament once again where they advanced to the elite eight last year. Fort Kent will most likely host a first-round game and the pairings will be announced on Sunday.
Both teams battled horrendous weather conditions as heavy rains blanked the area the whoe day. West, who also scored in the Bengals semi-final win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle, set up Keith Williams II in the 62nd minute for the game-winning goal. West then notched an insurance tally a minute later off an assist from Andre Anderson.
Fort Kent held a sizeable shot advantage as they fired 31 shots at the Clippers who could muster only two of their own. 12 of the Bengals shot went on goal as Kyle Lancaster notched 10 saves for Machias.
Giovanni Sinclair had no saves for Fort Kent.
