2009 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team

(Portland, Maine)- The Sunrise Conference announced their 2009 women's volleyball all-conference team and individual award winners prior to the conference tournament at a breakfast at Governor's Restaurant in Portland, Maine.

Senior outside hitter Erica Davis of the University of Maine at Presque Isle was named Player of the Year.  Davis nailed 144 kills and had 83 blocks, 65 digs, and 38 service aces.


The Owls Terry Cummings was named Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to the regular season and tournament championship and an 18-record.


Freshman Elisa Boyd of the University of Maine at Machias was named Rookie of the Year.  Boyd passed out 260 assists and had 105 digs and 42 aces.


Joining Davis on the all-conference team was teammates Megan Korhonen, Michelle Ferry, and Jo Bubar, and Ashley Ames and Amber Garrison of the University of Maine at Fort Kent.


Korhonen, a junior setter, handed out a conference-leading 382 assists and also had 111 digs, 93 kills, and 55 aces.  Ferry, a senior outside hitter recorded 143 kills, 133 digs, and 39 aces.  Bubar, a junior outside hitter, notched 120 digs, 100 kills, 32 aces, and 30 assists.


Ames, a senior middle hitter, pounded down 138 kills and added 48 digs, 29 blocks, and 12 aces and Garrison, a junior setter, distributed 329 assists and had 63 digs and 42 aces.


The University of Maine at Machias received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
