
(Portland, Maine)-The Sunrise Conference has announced their women's soccer individual award winners and all-conference team. The awards were handed out at an awards breakfast prior to the start of the conference tournament at Governors Restaurant in Portland, Maine.
Sophomore Whitney Sinclair and Junior Mindy Morneault of the University of Maine at Fort Kent was named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
Sinclair led the conference in points (78), goals (33), assists (12), shots (105), and game-winning goals (7). Morneault recorded a 0.30 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage with five shutouts. The two led the Bengals to the regular season conference championship and an undefeated 15-0 record.
Lucas Levesque, who coached Sinclair and Morneault at Fort Kent was named the Coach of the Year.
Freshman forward Kirsten Morley of SUNY Canton was named Rookie of the Year. Morley tied for fifth in the conference in scoring with 29 points on 12 goals and five assists.
Joining Sinclair and Morley on the all-conference team at forward was Katelyn Deveraux of Fisher College and Erin O'Connor of the University of Maine at Machias. O'Connor was second in the conference in scoring with 38 points on 18 goals and two assists. Devereaux had three goals and two assists for 11 points.
Named all-conference at midfield were Theresa Biggs of Fort Kent, Amy Galipeault of Vermont Technical College, Angie Waryasz of SUNY Canton, and Morgan Chasse of Fort Kent. Biggs tied for third in the conference in scoring with 34 points on 13 goals and eight assists. Galipeault scored 10 goals with nine assists for 29 points. Waryasz had eight goals and nine assists for 25 points and Chasse had nine goals and six assists for 24 points.
The all-conference defenders were Jackie Maynard of SUNY Canton, Katie Moody of the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Sarah Schmidt of the University of Maine at Machias, and Andrea Baril of Fort Kent.
Morneault and Stephanie Wunderley of Machias were named the all-conference goalies.
Wunderley had a 1.83 goals-against average and a .776 save percentage with two shutouts.
Vermont Technical College recieve the Team Sportsmanship Award.
