Deric Alston of SUNY Canton has been named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball.

Deric receives the award for the first time this year after averaging 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 weekend for the Roos. 

The sophomore guard from Jacksonville, N.C. had 20 points, five rebounds and three assists in an 83-72 win over the College of St. Joseph. 

He also had 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 91-89 loss to Fisher College. 

Deric shot an impressive 53 percent from the floor in both games.
