(Concord, N.H.)- No. 1 University of Maine at Fort Kent won the Sunrise Conference men's basketball championship beating No. 3 Fisher College 81-63 Sunday at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, N.H.  The Bengals improved to 21-8 overall while the Falcons end the year at 24-6.

Fort Kent snaps a three-year drought in the championship game and will now advance to the NAIA Division II national tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri March 10-16.

The game was close throughout much of the day before Fort Kent began to pull away with under 10 minutes left in the second half.

The Bengals opened up a five-point lead on two separate occasions and then a Manny Odugbela basket stretched the lead to seven at 59-52.

That lead would then climb to 10 points after a three-point play from Jeremy Thomas with 6:30 left.

Fisher pulled within eight two more times but then went cold and Fort Kent was able to control the defensive glass.  The Bengals also hit 6 of 8 free throws in the final two minutes to seal the win.

Brandon Fox led the Bengals with 25 points and eight rebounds.  Odugbela finished with 21 points and 10 boards.  Othniel Hyliger contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds and Thomas ended with 13 points and five boards.

The Falcons were led by Ryan Henry and Jasmin Handanovic who each had 14 points.  Henry also had seven rebounds and Handanovic had eight boards.  Oscar Brown supplied 13 points and 12 rebounds and Casey Pursell chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds.
