(Lynn, Mass.)- No. 2 University of Maine at Presque Isle rallied to beat No. 3 SUNY Canton 7-6 in 11 innings Friday night in the opening round of the Sunrise Conference baseball tournament at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.
After a scoreless 10th, the Roos posted two runs in the top of the 11th.
In the bottom of the 11th the Roos got the Owls first batter to fly out. The next two batters reached base on an error and a walk and then the Roos got another out by a strikeout. Stephen Thorne then ripped an RBI single to close the gap to 6-5. The next batter for Presque Isle drew a walk and Corey Harding then won the game with a walk off two-out, two-run single to centerfield.
Harding finished 3-6 and he also had a double. Seth Dorr was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run. Jake Fillebrown fanned eight batters and gave up seven hits in nine innings and Ian Towle came on in relief and allowed just one hit and one walk in two innings.
Dominic Creazzo went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run for the Roos. Matt Myers added a double, two runs and an RBI. Mike Zelyez allowed three hits and seven walks with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Dylan Gronowski gave up one hit and two walks in 1 2/3 and Matthew Fallon surrendered six hits and three walks in 3 2/3.
