(Weston, Mass.) -Top-seeded SUNY Canton beat Vermont Technical College 13-0 in the first round of the Sunrise Conference softball tournament at Regis College in Weston, Mass.
The Roos will face No. 2 Fisher College in the second round on Saturday and the Green Knights will play No. 3 University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Heather Lottie blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and Jenifer Shaw went deep for a solo shot in the bottom of the third inning to lead the Roos.
Lottie finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Shaw added two singles and Shelby McGraw, Carolina Olivares and Colleen Rivers each laced three singles apiece.
Tina DeLuca allowed just two hits in five innings to get her ninth win of the year. She struck out four and didn't allow any walks.
Abby Fusco had three strikeouts in four innings for the Green Knights.
