(Lynn, Mass.)- No. 4 Vermont Technical College upset No. 3 SUNY Canton 13-3 Saturday in the second round of the Sunrise Conference baseball tournament at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.
The Green Knights will play again tonight against No. 2 University of Maine at Presque Isle and that winner will move on to the championship game on Sunday.
The Green Knights were led by a solid pitching performance from Jeff Savage who had 12 strikeouts in the game. The senior scattered eight hits and allowed just two walks in the win.
Garrick Cronin went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for Vermont Tech. Phil Eseppi had three runs and two RBIs and Jordan Hodge went 2-for-4 with a run.
Tom Darling went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Roos. Adam Levy was 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Matthew Fallon and Dylan Gronowski also doubled for the Roos.
Josh Hartle started on the mound for SUNY Canton and gave up four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings. Josh Harvey allowed five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in three innings of relief.
