(Canton, N.Y.)- The University of Maine at Presque Isle won the Sunrise Conference women's cross championship.

The meet was held at SUNY Canton.  The Owls recorded 22 points and Paul Smith's College came in second with 33 points.  Vermont Technical College had an incomplete team.


Sarah Flint (below) of Vermont Tech won the overall women's title finishing the 5K race in a time of 24:04.  Hannah Smith of Presque Isle came in second in a time of 24:11.  Jessie Gardner of Paul Smith's College was third (24:27), Shelley Hanson of Presque Isle was fourth (24:46), Michelle Phillips of Presque Isle was fifth (25:45), Dana Miller of Paul Smith's was sixth (26:28) and Julie Rugg of Presque Isle was seventh (26:53).


Flint was named the Female Runner of the Year, the Rookie of the Year and to the all-conference team.  Smith, Gardner, Hanson, Phillips, Miller and Rugg also were named to the all-conference team.  Chris Smith of Presque Isle was the Women's Coach of the Year.
